LOL, I paid $140 for a 3" FATF...still worth it

It's all relative. Great deals pop up on tigers from time to time, but if you wait for them, you might be waiting for a very long time.

Rob, in your experience even with lots of dither fish mixing of hydrocynus species is going to result in failure?

In my experience, with lots of dithers and diligent, EARLY pellet training, it can work. I've never kept them in a group long term though. This will be my first real effort in keeping them in a group long term. The longest I kept them together was about five months and it worked well for me. The occasional missing scales or torn fins, but nothing major.

Max amputated the tail of a VATF at one point, but that was before I had him pellet trained. He's a pussy cat now days.

true, problem is I live in MI, not CA. If I want a ATF its either Rt4, or 2 LFS. More specifically the ATF has to be FATF. Just out of curiosity, what are the most commonly imported ATFs? Is there a list of most imported/common to least?

It varies from year to year.

This year it's been FATF. In 2012 it was TATF. In 2011 it was GATF and VATF. It all depends on where the collectors who sell to the wholesalers who sell to the importers who sell to the LFS we buy from are having the best luck catching their young tigers. Hell, in 2013 I've only seen about a dozen fish that I actually believe to be VATF imported, and all of them were brought in by Wes.

If you're thinking of keeping a group make sure you have plenty of space. Otherwise they will kill each other.

I always enjoy the group of ATF topic.....

Please correct me if I'm wrong but has there been any cases of a group NOT working when provided ample room?

I only know of a few attempts, but I'm fairly new to these things....... Tigerfang's group worked. Monsterfang's group was split due to space constraints, but may have worked with more room. Am I missing others???
