I have a nickle sized chip on the upper corner of my tank that is VERY shallow, but it is right where the silicone is and if i were to take the chip off that's attached to the silicone it would rip a little off. My question is what's the best way to fix this? Could I silicone over the chip and call it good? Rip the loose piece of glass off and see if it leaks? Any suggestions would be great! Here's a pic of it, the chip goes to about the middle of the silicone.

once glass is chipped its never the same strength,
u can try to patch it up idk man u might wanna replace that sheet

Well if it were thick I would worry about it, but it's like PAPER thin. I'm more worried about the silicone leaking out the side.

I would suggest you better reinforce the area with silicon and make sure to NEVER EVER fill water within 3" of that area... meaning 3" and below.. That crack will get bigger since water will push into the cracks and stress that area more and more until it will fully crack a tank..

Well the glass is just a hair under 1/2" thick and the chip is more like a flake and you can BARELY feel the difference. This is a 75g tanks as well. Do you think if I were to silicone it up that I could put the water level just barely under it? I mean this thing is at the very top. Thanks for all the input, guys!

i'll be risky.... because a crack is a crack.. and it will be stressed.. U can TRY it.. but honestly.. i wouldnt fill it up to the crack.. i would rather leave it slightly under rather than risking the integrity of the tank.. U can certainly try it out and see what happens.... :(

I have a similar "flake" on my 30g on the outside. It doesnt touch any silicone and I've never had a problem.

I cant really tell from your pic is there any cracks? Mine looks like when you breaks off a piece of obsidian like for arrow heads very shallow smooth no cracks.
