They get to be a good 3+ feet. Mine have reached a beasty 2 feet in 2 years,and are still growing like crazy.

PC isn't too accurate when it comes to maximum sizes. It says 35", but I saw one earlier this month that was at least 4' (no exaggeration). I may have a pic on my computer...

Planet catfish never includes the tail which changes things. However, I too have seen them well beyond 3' plus tail. JOHNPTC's nigers must be close to 4'. However, I don't think 4' is always common, but it can definitely happen.

And for size comparison, those pacu were both about 27-30".

Even if you don't count the tail, this one was still at least 40".

nice looking fish ive ever seen them irl bigger then 18-24inches. i never realized they got that big! i dont want a fish that cant live its whole life in my tank. off to go troll PC.
