thanks guys. i am planning to replace my black gravel to ocean free bio gravel before I add my niger. Black gravel are pretty much smaller than the bio gravel but it has pointy and somewhat sharper. I am just afraid of it getting stuck in gills and organs of the niger.
IMO gravel needs to be smooth, no sharp, jagged edges, etc. as they may damage the gills as the fish expels the substrate with great vigor. Mine were ok on small gravel (MA river nuggets) but everyone agrees sand is the best.
