Night Time Fishing for Big Bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive run bank lines in the sangamon river for six years about every weekend to every other weekend (depending on the girlfriend) :) and never caught nothing but flatheads, channel, blue cats, perch/drum(which gets thrown back), an occasional snapper(which you do not need a pistol. Ive got all my fingers and its not as fast as a dog so it doesnt lunge for your throat)..
If you think you have a snapper the line will be pulled tight even bouncing heavily at times or it could be a big catch. To check if your nervous(cuz I wade out in the water a ways to set my poles). Get a five foot pole with a hook at the end so you dont have to stand close to it.
Creating bank poles: I use half inch diameter pvc pipe, to ensure it wont snap like some bamboo poles, then get strong nylon string line. cut the pvc pipe into 5-6ft sections drill a hole through top section to tie string. On the bottom half cut a 45 degree angle so its sharp and easy to shove in the bank then attach the string which should be roughly the same length as pole. For hooks I use the large red eagle hooks never seem to bend like some hooks. Attach hook. Now you got bank poles make about 20 more and have a great haul along with a great time.

Hello all.

I love to fish at night. I have been doing it for over 25 years. I'm just wondering if anyone has any new tips that I may not know of. I love to use a very large jitterbug with rattles. I also use a large spinner bait with a single blade. My largest LM bass is 7.9lbs and my largest SM bass is 3.14lbs. I just thought I would put that out there to get the ball rolling. I am retired so I'm home and on the computer most of the time so lets chat.

You prefer night fishing as far as catching bass or its just overall night you like?

When I first moved here to Miami I fished only at night because I assumed lake fishing was same as ocean and caught nothing but a small bass few sunfish than when switched to fishing when sun was out it was huge difference .

I tried night again couple weeks ago only because didnt want to catch anymore Peacock bass (they dont bite at night) and had an alligator take my lure and scare the willies out of me not to mention only caught 2 tiny unkown fish so will stick to daylight lol

Ive fished in my backyard once at night, it was pretty fun/scary because I was by my self. I used a bucktail at first and caught a small bass but snaged a decent sized pleco lol. After a while I switch to a dark top water plug as the sky turned white with clouds. Thats when things got interesting, lots of hits. Some scared the crap out of me because the strikes were right at the waters edge. Oh yea and I surprized my neighbor when she let her dog out to pee, she must of thought I was such a weirdo.

lol yes its scary fishing at night ESP when the steam/fog is rising from the water and you cant see whats in there yet you get bites and hear splashing .
It actually borders on unpleasant lol if your in Florida but up north its great

I love bass fishing at night. I will be at the lake in a few hours time (3:00am) hopefully catching a few bass with a buzzbait :)

I didnt know there was bass in Korea. I was in reserve before going to Middle east I went to Camp Pelham (artillery) .

Was there for 3 months . The lakes by the Mountains there are breath taking not a soul around and just immense wild areas so it would make sense that lots fish but loooooooooong haaaaaaard winters

20 inches caught it last night 845pm
and yes i measured it ''sweating balls''
