Nightmare came true 2.0

Should post a thread and see what everyone s Nitrates are. Nitrates might shorten a life or slow growth but won't affect short term health

Make the post. I think you'll be surprised. I do my damnedest to make sure my nitrates don't climb above 40ppm.

High nitrates allow bacteria to grow on the gills of the fish, that is the main risk i think

Another sad sad story, so sorry for your losses
Hope things improve for you, can't believe it was the nitrates that killed them over night
For what it's worth my tank is anywhere between 40 and 80 nitrates all the time even with a HMA water changer hooked up
All these sad stories lately make me very paranoid

Thanks everyone! I'm still somewhat at a loss
For words. All other fish are acting perfectly fine eating as normal.

Unfortunately I am not able to set up a drip until I move into my own place which is hopefully only a few months away. Than I will be running full drips on all my big tanks.

The hunt for rays has begun. Hoping I can find another quality marble pair. Also hoping to get my hands on a bd or 2 soon here.

one of the vendors had some motoro rays and some others for sale recently. This kinda stuff almost puts me off from wanting rays, but they are illegal anyways

I hope you recover from this loss and the future looks brighter for your hobby!

... i also agree with shook....nitrates are a disaster to deal with... anywhere near 80 is basically playing with fireworks in a gasoline factory..
