Might be a little bit of background noise from the TV but this is what you hear all night here. Funny, you’d think it’d be hard to fall asleep at night, and that’s what I was expecting. But after a while it almost becomes white noise.

Yikes, that racket reminds of the constant chirping chorus of the crickets I used to breed in a tank in my kitchen.

Needless to say, that project didn't last long, lol.

When I listened to the soundtrack I found it a bit anticlimactic. I sort kinda expected it to sound like Jurassic Park. :)

Instead, we hear a bird or two and a few assorted bugs. Hell, you'll hear that much and usually more just about anywhere you go that's a bit out of the city, at least in spring, summer and fall. Throughout May and June I can step outside my back door and hear 5 or 6 species of nightbirds (owls, rails, etc.), 4 or 5 species of frogs, the ever-present coyotes, sometimes wolves, and occasionally the bleating/grunting/snorting/blowing of deer, the eerie wailing of a porcupine and other less common animal sounds.

For several weeks in May, the sheer volume of sound from calling Boreal Chorus Frogs and Wood Frogs as they jostle for mates can be so deafening that any verbal communication requires shouting. We shut our windows at night...not because of cold or rain, but just so that we can sleep! :)

Crickets? Pffft! :uhoh:

Not birds lol. Coquis are small frogs found in P.R. and the national animal iirc. I believe they’re only native to a small handful of islands in the Caribbean. Much louder in person, video doesn’t do it justice. One right on the window sill in the middle of the night:IMG_3563.jpeg
Pretty loud at this range. I’d say slightly less loud than a car alarm lol.

Cool little critters. The loudest things we have vocalizing at night are Boreal Chorus Frogs, barely an inch long. They are so small and secretive that there can be a dozen singing from a small plant right in front of you, but actually seeing one is almost impossible.

Each individual frog is nowhere near as loud as an alarm siren...but there are so many of them that the overall effect is staggeringly loud. :)

Ahhh, the call of the coqui frog, haven't heard that in quite a few years.
