Nikon vs. Cannon??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
oh, after that.
I think she's cute. probably too young for me unless there's some daddy issues...
oh, the cameras?

it's pretty hard to buy a bad camera these days, you almost have to try.
I'd probably go with the nikon because I had a very good experience with their tech support. the ccd on my 5700 died after about 4 years- obviously out of warranty and they replaced it (chip, not camera) and performed the maintenance cleaning I had requested with the repair free of charge.
I did a little looking and couldn't find anything stating this was a known issue with the camera, so I chalk it up to keeping the customer happy. since I was planning on getting it repaired anyway, this made me very happy.
I think the nikon looked better in the side by side.
I'd go to www.dpreview.com and see if their reviews are up for those yet. they usually post a good assortment of "real life" test shots along with lab type pics with graphs and color scales to compare resolution and color fidelity. they also give a decent rundown of the feature list and compare them to the previous model.

I don't know about these two cameras in particular, but overall, after having used my Nikon D3000 for almost 3 years now, I prefer Nikon to Canon (mainly for aesthetic reasons). I'm thinking about upgrading to a slightly higher-end Nikon body (like maybe the D90) at some point this summer.

How you setup and take the shot is more important than what kind of camera you have. Also just as stated above, it is almost impossible to buy a bad camera today, technology is amazing. Also that video did not mention anything new at all, basically telling to stick with what you already own. I probably own the cheapest DSLR camera on this forum, a Canon XSi / 450D, Results are more important than names, numbers and color.

Your question is to general comparing brand is not a product comparision. Pick 2 specific models and then you can have a comparision.

Besides if you go dslr there are many combos of lense & body, brand is not important. Things that matter great camera body with a crappy lense is not as good as a lower end body with a great lense.. The lense by far will be more expensive than the body if you go for quality. If you plan to just point and shoot neither combo will matter, you have to know what you want from your camera.

This is also true you can get more out of you camera if you know how to work it. But the hardware does matter. I have a olympus 620, mult lenses, ext flash, remote, and tons of memory and rech batt... 1 lense alone cost more than the body and the rest of there low end lense, my pics are by far much more crispy not to mention speed and ap. Know i have to upgrade my body to keep up with my lense....id like to snap quality pics lightning fast. Im luckly to know someone in olympus and get 50% disc on all there products thats when i got rid of my canon.
