Has anyone on here ever kept a nile perch? They are true monster fish and are so cool looking. If so how big did it get in how long. And what tank mates did you have with it?

Its a dream of mine to own one one day and similarly sized fish with it.

every time I see your name I wonder of you are a kid named ryan who likes arowanas or you are a white supremacist who likes arowanas. As far as whether a nile perch makes a suitable aquarium fish, if you have to ask the answer is no (google and you will see)

Umm why a white supremacist??? I just like aro's , And yeah I know they can't be held in an aquarium I'm talking for an enormous indoor pond

He means because the word "aryan" is in your user name. I have never seen anyone with a nile perch, that would need a huge tank with a good bit of current. They would even dwarf the requirements of a full grown RTC. See pic for reference

...good luck with that...

I have one..

they seem to grow pretty slowly.. mine has gained like 2" in 6 months, tough to get on dead food.. somewhere between a dat and a p-bass in behaviour.. even when given an unlimited supply of live feeders they seem to be greatly surpassed by rtc, tsn, gars, aros etc when it comes to growth..

and yes, I'm aware of its future requirements.. even if I'm highly unlikely to fulfill those I have friends that may and if that won't work I have pretty good contacts in public aquariums and since the hobby is pretty small over here they aren't flooded with outgrown rare fish..

he appears in this vid.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Stbc7LUP0Xk
