Niles are MEAN. I'd go with a salvadorean they get REALLY REALLy tame and sometimes overly friendly. ^_^ I know one that will roll over upside down in the water so you could pet him. :headbang2
 
guys thnx for you oppinion..but i had a savannah and i had tegus i just like the tropical stuff..i might get a blk throat..or a dumerils..idk but most likely the nile.wish me luck

If you get the Nile try to get it from a good breeder there is a better chance of it being more tame If it was handled correctly when young.

My savanah even gos in and out of his pet carrier on command when he takes baths and visits the LFS on feild trips :D

thats funny i know hes good because i got him from my work and i talkd to the breeder before i ordered him..so i will have pics..soon after his tank is done and i take him home..woot woot..
 
Niles are absolutly one of the worst monitors to buy, they are general very aggressive and bad tempered. I don't recommesd a Bosc/ savanna or white or black throut monitor both can be a handful and both get huge. If this is your first monitor I totally, hole heartedly recommend an ackie, they are small and great lizards. If you must get a big lizard get an Argentina white and black tegu, they generally have far better personallitys then both savs and niles.
