i am leaning towards male...but way to early to tell.. i had 60 babies grow up .. and all i did was look for signs of some them being male.. and lucky was i , i got a couple..here is DAD... all of a sudden you will start to see blue on the face.. it may not even show up while your looking at him.. but the camera will show it.. this is a beautiful baby venustus no matter what it is.. and a beautiful pictures of it.

I would estimate he is around 3" or so.

Is he with other males .. or females.. if he/she is with other females it should start showing color soon.. or it is a beautiful female.

Nice venustus Liz. just added a large male to the frontosa tank. His colours compliment the Frontosa tank nicely.

i have a quick question....how big do these suckers get?...and what is there temperment? are they ok to put in with some other mixed lake cichlids?...ex. peacocks, calvus, d. compressiceps, a. compressiceps, aratus?

yes they are ...but blue face comes with maturity..they look like the females until then...although the males are definitly bigger if you have fry from the same bunch..
