I have two Columbian Shark Catfish (3.5" each) in a 75 gallon brackish tank. One has shown dominance over the other and, in the past couple of days, I've noticed some evidence of nipping on the anal fin (which healed remarkably fast) and tail of the less aggressive cat. Is this just typical juvenile behavior that will pass with time, or will this be a long standing issue? What can I do? They'll grow too large for the tank they're in, let alone adding another to even out the aggression level. Would a couple Mollies throw them off?

That's the problem with keeping only 2 of a schooling species. One is always dominant. In a school, they take turns.

true that PP. Since you know you'll need the upgrade anyway, maybe go ahead and get another. You'll just keep running into this problem. I've seen two of a shooling species work before but once one starts being dominant...it's bad news bro. If it were me, I would add a third and look for a slightly larger upgrade than you may have been thinking already. You still have a bit before they'll be busting down your tank.

+1

You might find some larger ones if you're really willing to look far & wide & travel a bit.
