i dont think electric will ever take off, mainly because long recharge times. But James May? he had a good idea, he used a diesel generator, to produce electricity and charge the batteries of their electric car.

What does a car do all night sitting in a garage? Nothing! That is when it is recharged! Think commuter car, not going somewhere while on the road for a recharge!

How is burning (and paying for!) diesel fuel to charge an electric car with a generator efficient let alone cost effective???!!!! :screwy::screwy::screwy:

I didn't see that but, I believe the limitation on charge time is based on how much current a average house wiring can supply.

There was some electric car that had a 15 minute quick charge for significant portion of its battery capacity, with special outlet/charger.

you could probably search for electric car quick charge and find more info.




edit: Actually this car has a quick charge too, not 15 minutes but 30 for 80% charge.
