nitrate absorbing plants

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow, that is some root system you've got there. What would your nitrates be with growth like that. Can you actually get down to 0ppm or would you be hovering around the 5ppm all the time?

My nitrates hovered in the 2-5ppm range, although my test method had -2/+2 range of error margin, and my tap water supplier used chloramine, so the noise level from every other day 30% water changes was always an undercurrent.

another option is spider plants, i keep them in a couple of my tanks as i didn't want a mental crawler plant hanging everywhere. they grow out rather than every where lol.

I have spider plants and pothos in most of my setups they work great. Neither of them grow super fast, not as fast as I would like. But they do well in low light.

So they arent safe.... What plants can I use in a tank with a single FH?
What do you mean by "safe"? You can use pothos with FH as long as you protect the root system. I use an acrylic shower caddy for this exact purpose in my giant gourami tank
