similar concept to an undergravel filter goes for the production of anaerobic bacteria to eliminate nitrates. The production of ammonium sulfide is possible if the flow rate is not properly regulated.

I'm glad someone already started this thread, because I was interested in buying one of these things if they actually work. I just don't want it to stink up my basement more than my bulldog already does.
