NITRATE FILTER PROJECT UNDERWAY

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i know i am im looking at 2K in 2 ponds this would be a nice addition to the set up...

Awesome job John!

ok....been running the nitrate filter in the continuous mode for about 48 hours at 200 gph. not returning the filtered water to the main tank yet.

the results are the input water is about 35ppm and the output is 5ppm ...the test is almost clear...turns brown with more nitrates....see pic

filled a 60 gallon tank with the filtered water and put in 6 neons......

if the neons are looking good tommorrow...it will be time to return the nitrate filtered water back to the main tank and increase it through put to 500 to 1000 gph......

thanks for watching :)

i also use it in my systems :)

Hey John, shouldn't you aerate the water before returning it or are you returning it by way of a sump?

i have the filter online now :headbang2:headbang2

the water is returning via the splash method........

i am not sure about areation of the oxygen depleted water.

the tank itself has alot of aeration bio towers splash returns and a monster size aerator.

i will watch the do levels.

thanks for the heads up :)

Any new updates??

yes.......... its now running full time at 1000 gph.

i am adjusting the carbon food feed rate still.

the nitrates in the big tank have dropped to 20ppm as of this morning and the filtered water is about 10ppm.

As i run a 24/7 water change system i have cut down its flow. I am going to add activated charcoal to the system to compensate for the lowered amount of water changed.
