Nitrate Questions

This is a good thread, as I to am plagued by high Nitrates.
 
My 2cents...
If you are concerned about high nitrates know what your fish requirements/toleration level is, to be healthy. Use water changes to control nitrates. Replacing tank water has the added benefit of replenishing trace elements and micronutrients your fish and BB consume. If your tank/Bio mass is so large that the volume and frequency of water changes becomes a problem, then investiagate drip filters and other nitrate digestors, but dont stop changing your water entirely.
Start monitoring pH with nitrate level and conduct water changes accordingly.
Remember there are no short cuts in this hobby. Trying to reduce complexity has the effect of creating it somewhere else...
