I bought this nitrate reactor a year ago and never worked well for me. I think it is because I had poor pre filter and dirt and debris got caught all in it. I really want to get it up and running so I cleaned it all out and decided to give it another try. I just ordered a ton of pond matrix for my sump and was curious if I could use that. It previously used small plastic balls (polyhydroxyalkanoates media) but i feel matrix might actually work better. The chambers will provide a good space for anaerobic bacteria. Also, would I have to use the inserts to put the media in or could I just dump the media straight in the canister that screws into the reactor. Not sure if I would get good flow throughout the whole media. I attached a picture when it was filled with debris and wasnt working properly. Should help with clearing any confusion. Thanks guys!
