how can i get rid of nitrate in my 55 reef without doing a water change?

you cant water changes on a salt water tank should be once a week anyway

my reason is that when i did a water change the water that i was putting in was perfect, yet it killed my cleaner shrimp and my xenia. the water temp was almost exactly the same and i added it slow. i dont know why it happened but all my mushrooms and polyps are not looking too hot either. i figured if there was any other way it would be great, but i guess not.

sorry but water change is the key.. u could use somthing likr Xnitrate but that wont get RID of it it might lower it a bit but thats all

i have a skimmer, 2 powerheads, an aquaclear 110, and a biowheel for a 10

are you on city water ? because i can only see that going on with your corals, if the day you changed your water ... they may have added more JUNK to the city water as they do every so offen

no i live in a smallish town and i have my own well. i also use a tapwater filter before adding to the tank.

you could dry a sump with a wet dry and stick a couple cell pore slabs in the bottom the ecosystem miracle mud works real well but you will still need water changes if you would like more info on it i will post it
