there is about 100lbs give or take a few. and the ph is about 8.1

maybe im wrong but i'm pretty sure you want your salinty around 30. 28 i think is the low end of it.

the best way to get nitrates low in a reef aquarium

is to have a refugium

with some fast growing macro algae such as some species of caulerpa

make sure they have strong lgihting for fast growth

keep them trimmed in check so they dont overrun the refugium and /or "crash" which is a die off.

you could also feed the cuttings for any herbivorious fish you might have such as tangs.
