there is a way to rid of nitrate through a special filtration system, which I am not familiar with.

the best and most simple way is to keep up your regular water changes.

The special filtrations system is an anaerobic system with a long coil of tubing.I was looking into it but decided against it cause if you mess it up you poison your fish,and it doesnt remove hormones and all the other stuff that builds up.

you do a water change 10 /15 percent

that all depends on your bioload

i can see you donig that on a 75 gal tank with a school of about 20 neon tetras, with a fairly well planted tank.

but if its a 300 with an arowana, afew large catfish and big cichlids you might wanna up it to 50-75% a week, maybe even twice a week.
