water change and dose with prime/safe. I would do a fin level and keep that up every other day till nitrites hold steady at 0. lot of work i know, BTDT
So...do you have nitrIte or not? If you have 0 nitrite, and nitrate, you're cycled. I wouldn't add an AROWANA to a fresh tank, or a ray. But a few fish would be ok. I just cycled a tank 6-8 months back, I didn't kill any fish. Let's all try to relax.
posted test says he does, hence the every other day water changed dose with prime until nitrite come up 0. prime handles up to 2ppm , can be dosed up to 5 times regular dose but see no reason to do that. will not effect the cycle finishing.
Well I don't know if I'm wrong about this but I was under the impression that during cycling u shouldn't change water. I mean that u would want ur ammonia to spike at first for the bacteria to bloom to a point where it's able to handle that kind of load, same with the nitrite. So basically the first time u should change water in the tank u cycle is when u get a reading of 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and over 40 nitrate. When u change water before that point ur just making it last longer.
