Nitrate ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
cool lima Broc.

I would think that matrix, biomax, or substrate pro would have allot more surface area for the bacteria. What is the difference between eheim mech (ceramic rings) and the substrate pro ? I can believe how much of that stuff came with the 2217

noddles are good fluval come with them also, the big point to keep in mind is water flow versus surface area. prob with pot scrubbers is they can clog up, mutch like a sponge filter, means less water flow over the entire media surface and bypass, ceramic noodles and matrix are very porous and designed not to have this clog issue, so the water flows over all surfaces with minimal bypass.

Eheim mech is just to break up current and trap large debris. Not very good. Substrat pro is where all the action happens.

Eheim substrate pro is expensive. Pond matrix is what I went with.

thats what i got, comes in a pale and great stuff

most folks look at it and think you payed for a load of rocks, (insert wife here). this is not true, great stuff and those patented rocks, thank you very much.

Can we see your ammonia test? With the API kit a reading of 0 will sometimes look more like .25, especially in saltwater.

I'd call that nitrate 0.

Try adding some fish food to the tank and watching for subsequent spikes if you're unsure.

SeaChem matrix

i prefer it over ceramic noodles.
