Running a little experiment with some plants thought I would document my results here.

I ordered 50 4" lucky bamboo plants online (they sent more than 50) and have placed them in the 40B that I have reserved for using plants as filtration which runs on the same filter as my 300 gallon and another 40B which is being used to grow out Orino bass at the moment. This system also has a constant 3Gph drip. I will purchase a light tomorrow which will just be a spot light in the 6000k range that I will run for a few hours a day.

Here is a picture of how I have them set up

you know bamboo will grow through a human body?? lol i wonder if you let them grow, how much damage it would do to the underside of the tank above? Ive heard of bamboo growing a foot a day in tropical areas..Im sure you will become an expert at pruning lol

Lucky bamboo isn't a true bamboo and doesn't grow as fast as true bamboo. I like the idea. I added some plants to my pup tank a couple month ago but haven't done any water tests. Let us know John.

Nice John should work well what a clean set up!!!

Firemedic did this with pothos a while back with great results. In fact, it convinced me to stick some into my sump, as well. Keeps nitrates down and makes me feel better when I miss a water change. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys, I am hoping to use the trimmings to fill the rest of my eggcrate :)

I have tried pothos before but I was thinking the impressive roots on the bamboo(actually it is ivy) and how fast it grows may make it a great choice for fishkeepers
