Ok I'm really angry here... I used to use five in one test strips (broke) but now I got a little money and invested in a master fresh test kit the tube variety. Ok I keep showing 40ppm on my nitrates with this kit strips I never read higher than 20ppm I have a 5month old aquarium so def not cycling not overstocked done at least 60cent change of water(vacumming) and always do a 40 percent water change (by vacuum) a week used nitraban about 2weeks ago claims on bottle last 6 months I'm stumped is it time for more filtration or what I'm pulling hair out over here maybe putting media in my in where I can fit in hob add my little 20g filter on for help???

I think the liquid tests are more accurate. Try checking the water out of your tap and see what it reads. Mine varies but comes out as an average of 20ppm no3.

Nitraban does not last 6 months read closer. If you dose weekly it is said to reduce the needs of water changes for 6 months it is a crock of .... It may lower nitrates but still make them visible on a test like with ammonia thats been treated with amquel or prime.

Thank you my llopincrate I was thinking that one too (feeding) my nitrates read 20ppm as well. Do u guys think maybe throwing a scrub or two in my current hob and a I think it's called sponge filter (basically airstones with a sponge on it) may also help or should I not wast my time? I would buy a new filter but see no point as I'm upgrading soonly anyway
