To be honest, yesterday was the first day I tested my water in a month.
Now that I can properly do it I'm thinking twice a week. Maybe more because I'm currently doing a water change on the tank every other day.

20ppm is your target. I read a study, can not remember where that at 23 internal DMG overtime starts to take place.

I always let 20ppm or a little over set my water changing schedule. Pay attention to your creep over time and it well let you know what day you need to schedule your water change.
