i have a 120 that i set up a year ago and i dont recall this problem when i set up the other tank.
i did a water change 30% three days ago due to a spike in the nitrites
then tested the water the next day it was fine i went to work came home it went up from .25 in the morning to 1.0 at night , another water change %50
then today the same story i tested the water before work and it was ok nitrites were .50 then i came home and they were at 2.0

a few things i do already know
it takes about 4-6 weeks to cycle a tank
this tank has only been up for 3 weeks but i had no choice but to put my fish in the new tank due to the fact the other one was sold.

my question, is this normal?
even after 2 consecutive water changes?
any info or help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Use what is called Cycle in the aquarium you can get this at your fish store. This speeds up the biological system and will establish quicker.

Wouldn't seachem stability be great for this? Or am I.missing something, the tank is definitely trying to cycle and stability has worked on cycling the majority of my tanks with no major problems

Did anyone notice this thread is from 2008 ?

I'm betting the tank is cycled by now.

Although it is a good example of how getting in a hurry and adding fish before a tank has fully cycled can cause exta work and grief. :)

Haha oops... I would hope its done cycling by now. I really did not notice this was a thread from 2008. Guess that's what I get for jumping into a conversation *palm meet face* lol
