Nitrite?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well I am not sure if it is high enough to worry about. It has been at 0ppm and now it is at .5ppm is it ok?

How long have you had this tank set up though? Is it a new tank? If its a new tank and u already have fish in there and it hasn't been properly cycled you can add Bio-spira bacteria thats fairly cheap and works real well. also Seachem makes a great product called Prime that works real well..Also, if you trust the cleanliness and know the people at your local LFS they might let you take some water squeezings from the foam filters in their tanks.. Or if you have any filter media from another tank or some of the gravel from another tank u can put the gravel or media in pantyhoes and tie it so it sits right by the filter intake..

Ok thanks for all the info. It was been up and going for about a month now.

Yeah do some research on the fish tank cycle.. Theres a process you have to go through before u even introduce fish.. Usually takes a month or so for FW sometimes longer it just depends..

Well it might be alittle late for that. I have already added alot of fish to the pond....So far they have been fine. I did a half water change and it took it back down to 0ppm.

Ok well it was cycling, if u don't have any nitrates i wouldnt do another water change beacuse it needs to cycle, a water change is just a temp fix it will just start the cycling process over again, once it cycles then you want to do water changes to get rid of the nitrates, but if it doesnt have any then it hasn't cycled completely.. Just read up on it it will tell you everything you need to know.. :)
