The Nitrites in my 10g tank have been about 5.0ppm for 3 days. I've been doing about 40% water changes everyday. There are 5 rasbaro's and 1 dwarf gourami in the tank. I have some local rocks in there that i scrubbed clean and some plastic plants. All other tests look great(ammonia, nitrates, etc.) any thoughts? Thanks!

You should see your nitrates start to climb and the nitrite steadily fall to zero, just part of the nitrogen cycle.have you added any bacteria to the tank or just cycling it old school? What kind of filter are you using? What is the treading on the nitrates before the water changes? Chances are you are eliminating them with the water changes, the bacteria are working or you'd read high for ammonia instead of nitrite.

No bacteria, using aquasafe plus to condition water. The filter is an aquatop pf500. it says its for up to 30g tank and moves 132 ph. Thanks!

with fish in the tank I would keep doing the 50% approx wc a day. it will take a slower amount of time to balance your filtration... but your fish will likely survive it. You can try useing a bacteria starter.. imho I've found them almost useles... if you have other tanks that are balanced.. dump some of the "junk" from it's filter into the back of your aquatop. This will kick start your bacteria better imho then anything in a bottle. as said.. once your nitrates start riseing your tanks headed where is should be. I would also cut-back feeding your fish to every other day just a pinch until you get the water sorted out.
