Just finished my bag of hikari food sticks. Used it to convert my 10-11in aimara to pellets, and now that it's finished I thought about changing to NLS.

I have NLS Thera A in 6mm but he isn't interested and sinking pellets are a pain for clean up. Are the Float pellets well received? Also is there a difference between the extra large pellets and the jumbo?

It's either Float or getting a bag of hikari jumbo carnisticks but really want him on the best food.

Cichlids tear it up aside from that I had puffers so nothing wolf like to compare

Wow an aimara on pellets.. Do you have any pictures of your aimara to share?
You might wanna get the nls jumbo which is 4.5mm so no wastage when the pellets are being consumed.. (with bigger pellets, some of the chewed stuff might pass through the gills)

I love the NLS float. I mainly only use the 3mm and the 1mm even though the 1 is really hard to find. Cichlids love the 3mm and the 1mm is perfect for rainbowfish. I agree with you that clean up is too difficult for the sinking.

I've never had much luck getting stubborn feeders onto NLS. It seems the pellets are much harder and more dense than Hikari.

The floating pellets are not hard, in comparison with the sinking formulas. How well they will be received by your fish is impossible to say. I have personally never had a difficult time converting a fish to NLS over the many years that I have been using it, including many wild caught fish that had never seen a pellet.

Don't know how to copy links but I have a thread on him in the Characin section with a vid of him eating pellets. Will try and link when I get to a PC.

RD. RD. great to hear they are softer so I'll give it a try. I saw some debate about the difference in formulas from Jumbo to Extra Large. Not sure if you have a position on that.

Some fish prefer Jumbo sized pellets, some Extra Large. Depends on the fish, but formulas will be the same. I think that in this case you need to try them out with your fish, I have zero experience with this species.

Well I ordered the jumbo and big mistake. He tried eating them but they’re just too big. Attacked them and trying chewing but wouldn’t swallow. I tried cutting them but he wouldn’t take it then. I’ll give it a try again tonight but I probably need to get the 4.5mm instead if the jumbo that are 6mm. While the hikari food sticks were bigger, they were longer versus the hikari are wider.
