For juveniles I use Thera A, over 4" carnivore, and over 7" massivore. If your tank stinks they are being over fed and biomass in the tank is very happy. As they get larger I find it much easier to count pellets then to measure out pellets or gradual.
Food choice is a personal thing. Remember, fish can't read and results don't lie!
Been feeding NLS to my 12 inch L-600 for 4 years now. He eats about 10 pellets a day. Once a week I give him a salad shrimp with the shell on he devoures it. NLS is all I give my pseudas with reat results, once in awhile I throw in frozen bloodworms
Thanks guys he seems to be doing fine on it. May move him out of theain tank though. Feedings are a nightmare cuz of my pearsei getting most of the food meant for the L600
One idea I used to make sure small clown loaches got food was to use slate to make a cave that the larger fish could not get into. I then used a tube to drop the food into and it sank into the cave. Nowadays I would take a ceramic cave and drill/cut a hole into it and stick the tube in that way. Large pieces of drift wood would also offer additional protection as your bite will try and force their way in somehow.
I have to cut the filters off or the flow will blow the food around. I did the cave thing but the pearsei would use the L600's aggression to its advantage by harrassing him and hovering nearby...the pleco qould get all hot and bother and try and chase the pearsei away which would then blow all the pellets out of the hide.
Now i just drop pellets near the plecos hide and chase the pearsei away with tongs...was fun at first now turning into a chore. When i feed cut up krill its even worse.
This is the only way to ensuee the pleco gets some krill
