I've been using NLS Therea A+ for the last couple of weeks...Ever since then I've noticed a stong pugent garlic smell coming from my tank? Anyone lese have this issue? Water changes don't seem to affect smell?

Ive been using that food too but haven't noticed any smell yet. been using it for a couple weeks too. but i also alternate with other NLS foods and frozen foods.

Thanks I'll back off it for a couple of days and see what hapens? Until then more water changes.......

Thera A has a LOT of garlic in it. How much are you feeding? If feeding is good, then just back off of it for a few days, but I never noticed it smelling like garlic on my tanks.

I know it's an old thread, but....

Yeah, my entire garage is permeated with the smellof garlic from nls. I fed two days ago, and you still walk in and are hit straight in the face with it. Of course, with the amount I feed my dirty catfish, I would expect it to take several days before it starts to clear out. I think I've turned my catfish into garlic shooters!!! Lol.

I have been using it for over a month now and I notice that in inside my stand stinks of garlic, I have a sump so it isn't completely sealed like a canister.
It is so bad I have swapped to the community 1mm and cichlasoma 3mm which makes less of a stink.
It is noticeable when the door is shut and we come back in from shopping, the room has quite a distinctive odour.

I must have a terrible sense of smell, lol. I never notice it.

Oh yeah. It's the mega fish formula. Do all the nls formulas have this much garlic in them? I might need to only use the food every 4th day or so to let the smell clear out.

The NLS smells horrible, smells like garlic. Hikari cichlid gold pellets smells like beef jerky.

IMO then you eat some weird beef jerky! :grinno: I've always fed hikari massivore and sinking cichlid pellets which are super stinky in their own way, but the smell usually disapates after 6 hours or so. I glady welcome a cheaper health option to the hikari line, but I think I'm going to have to rotate between the two foods to chill out the garlic smell a bit. In a sealed garage full of fish tanks, it's just unpleasant to be in there.
