NLS = garlic odor

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
But the fish looove stinky food! I know mine do.. the stinkier the better!

I think the way to guage the amount of garlic used is to see where on the ingredients list it is. On the Thera A+ its one of the first 4 or 5 but in the community and cichlasoma it is much lower in the list.
Even just opening the tubs and smelling you can notice the change in the garlic.

Cut back on the amount you are using. I use it every secound day along with daily offerings of HBH cichlid frenzy for my large carnivore plecs and striped silver dollars. When I fed it eclusively it stunk but massivore pellets smell the absolute worst to me.

I believe what you are smelling in the Mega fish formula, is just the overall potency in the food, as it does have a much higher protein (krill/herring) content compared to the smaller pellet sizes. The amount of garlic in the Mega is actually exactly the same as the rest of the smaller pellets. (non TherA formulas)

To a catfish, it probably smells heavenly. :D

It's definitely garlic. I couldn't tell if some italian food was rotting in my fridge in the garage or it was the new fish food. When the fridge smelled just fine, I realized it was for sure the new food. I really think its just the large quantity that I feed that makes its so overwhelming.

It must be, as that formula has the same inclusion rate of garlic as the rest of the non TherA formulas. It's a rather nutrient dense food, you might be able to cut back on the amount that you're feeding, while still maintaining your fish at an optimum level.

It's not an overfeeding problem. It's more of a giant catfish and tons of fish problem! :grinno: With about 1,400 gallons of tanks in a two car garage, its just concentrated in the moist air.

LOL, yes, that might be an issue.
On a good note, you probably attract a lot of Italians. :D

Well not sure about that, but I at least keep all the Twlight fans away. ;)
