NLS ingredient change ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Frank, that won't work too well either, as label changes take a LONG time to reach the masses. Trust me, as a former distributor I used to cringe every time that a change was made.
.

Neil they said most of the big changes happened almost two years ago. You think its possible that we are just seeing the newer labels hit the market ? Do you think that since we are seeing the labels/ingredient change on the the jumbo and medicated formulas we would have already seen the changes on the other formulas (if any even took place which at this point i dont think they did)

I believe the changes two years ago was the removal of soybean products, a reduction in wheat content, and the increase in aquatic vegetation (seaweed, kelp, algae).

If the elimination of "Herring Meal" and/or "Whole Fish" in NLS formulas is to become more wide spread, it would likely be several months before we start seeing it. At the moment, it appears restricted to four products, two of which are the medicated products (Hex Shield and Ich Shield), along with the 7.5mm FLOAT and the Finicky Fish Formula.

Soy Isolate was discontinued from all NLS formulas when I was still a distributor here in Canada, approx. 5-6 years ago.

The Hex and Ich formulas both contain vey bitter medication, the herring would have been removed, and the krill content increased, to help increase palatability. Obviously increasing wheat content wouldn't have helped with that. Ditto to the Finicky Fish formula.

The increase in aquatic vegetation took place approx. 2 years ago, so that is most likely when the Jumbo formula changed as well. As previously stated, that too is most likely an increase in krill, and the removal of herring. Not an increase in wheat.

I was just looking through all my old fish crap, found a container of float. Gotta be 2 yrs old wheat is the second ingredient. Im betting that there were no new changes to other formulas only float and that being said maybe these changes arent new at all since i have a 2 yr old can of it DMD123 DMD123 are you positive the older can of jumbo fish float didnt have wheat as the second ingredient?

kmuda kmuda this container is pretty old so the changes with wheat couldnt have just happened. Atleast imo

BTW - herring meal never was "eliminated" from the Hex Shied, or Ich Shield formulas. It was never an ingredient to begin with. I have both formulas, sent to me directly from the manufacturer right after they were released.

Again, it would be nice if some people, kmuda, got their facts straight before spouting off on a public forum.

Thanks Frank, pretty much what I figured, but I haven't used the Float food in a long time ether. So all this hoopla over a change made to one formula, two years ago.

Yeah i wanted to start the thread because i knew i would get info from some trusted people but at this point this change had to happen a while ago at the very least two years ago.

My bad

No worries, it was good practice for me, keeps the brain sharp. lol
