I like that idea! But what if the snails end up in the filter due to breeding ? also don't bichir's eat snails ?

Why's it matter if they end up in the filter?

Also, these are tiny little snails. I don't know if the bichirs are going to bother putting in the effort to crush them for a when they get delicious NLS every day. Who knows, maybe they eat a few, but I have hundreds.

Wont they damage the impellar ?

Doubt it. I have so many small snails that I'd know by now if they damage impellers. Who cares, anyway. Worst case, impeller damage - new impeller. $10. In this hobby, that's chump change.

That is true. Ill just go for that and keep an extra impeller around. What about mystery snails would they help with any brown algae ive been getting / food bits.

I noticed a lot of what looked like poop in my new quarantine tank. It's got 5 clown loaches and some serpae tetra, mostly being fed NLS.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the 'waste' was in fact small snail shells. They must have hitched a ride in the filter media I pulled out of my sump, and given the little loaches a nice treat :)

lol nice.
