One benefit of NLS for FHs is the high amount of garlic it contains. I've been reading alot of horror stories about hex and parasites in FH's. Garlic is supposed to help.
I've the 3mm sinking pellets large fish formula.. Do I need to get the Thera+A formula as well cause the LFS have them in stock..

Ther A is not needed. Depending on the size of fish 3mm sinking or 4.5mm floating Cichlid pellets will do the trick. TherA is also a harder pellet, which is why some fish choose to spit them out. You can get the fish to eat the pellet in due time, you just have to be smarter than it ;)

And Camphilopohus; what info do you go off of besides your fish eat it that Omega 1 is 'better' than NLS?

My fish eat omega one and NLS, but omega one produces better results overall. If you don't believe me just try it yourself. ;) Especially with flowerhorns omega one works wonders. To be honest though the staple I was feeding the big guy in my avatar before he died was a bag of 5mm omega one large cichlid pellets and the 3mm NLS cichlid pellets mixed together.

I have tried it and NLS is a superior product IMO. Omega 1 has been rumored to use steriods and non natural color enhancers in their food, like hormones!

My fh is around 7" so the 3mm should be ideal although it's not showing interest in the pellets yet.. It just chewed them & spit them out.. I think it's used to floating type pellets.. Hopefully it will start eating them soon..
Maybe some tips on how to get my fh to start eating? :)

Exact same boat. I'm guessing it's the density difference in the floating vs. sinking pellets. I have a feeling if NLS came in a 3mm floating pellet there'd be no issues.

I believe the main difference in Thera A and Cichlid is garlic content (Thera A has more). My LFS doesn't carry the cichlid formula.

Most of the advice I'm given is to starve him until he starts eating it but I'm hesitant as mine is a juvi and I don't want to stunt his growth. Plus I'm a sucker when it comes to him begging and splashing about when he sees me.

Haha, yea.. those cute lil buggers do know how to get our attention for food..
I wish they had floating type as well.. Is the Large Fish Formula similar to the Cichlid Formula? The LFS here has Large Fish Formula & Thera+A Formula in stock but no Cichlid Formula..
Guess I'll just starve him till he stuff them in his mouth without spitting out.. :D
