This is perfect for saltwater as it give you greater light exposure. The newer tanks are made with a much thinner glass and without the center brace will bow really bad and eventually leak or fall apart from the pressure. Look at the top housing to see if the brace was ever there. If it was removed or broken off you should be careful. If there is no sign of it ever having a center brace you will be ok, just look for a thicker glass and water test it before you buy it. You will see the bow immediately if the brace was supposed to be there. Good luck!
