i did like that quote about her not caring about the fine amount cos they will never get it due to her limited resources. i will never understand why courts fine people such large amounts when its obvious they will never be able to pay it in their lifetime.

:ROFL:Totally agree, I mean seriously if I was even charged 80k for 1 song it would take at least 6-7 years of pay just to pay that one song. What am I suppose to do for them 6-7 years, live off of nothing. Even if they garnished my wages then it would take even longer to pay one stupid song. I know it's stealing, but I can go to a LFS steal a $300+ filter and maybe come out with a few thousand dollars in fines, but 80k for a .99cent song. Ridiculous, make them pay a $1000 and if they do it again then double it, and so on. After a short time this will add up and it doesn't matter how much money you have, you will learn to stop.

yep, if you make the fines realistic for almost anyone to pay then the incentive to behave after the punishment exists. ridiculous fines like 80k per song just makes you laugh as you know that its never payable and you know, like she does, that the record companies are actually out of pocket twice.

They don't need your HDD to get you in trouble. All they have to do is catch you as an uploader or downloading from them. This is why I use torrents...

Ermm... they'll still catch you, downloading their files...

Yeah, torrents aren't safe, you leave behind your ip address, pretty much who you are on the internet. I would never download off of a public tracker, never.

They are sending a STRONG message to the public, to just scare people with the heavy fine. They never meant to collect the money....

ip address can change

and

your server ip address can change too

I am not getting into the details, its like laundering money (never apply it to one source)

:D

Okay, enough has been said. Thread is done.
