No luck with mantilla. Call for concern?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Would a seperate tank for aging with a biofilter work? Could he add prime to reduce chlorine then let the filter eat the ammonia?

pH 6.2, Salt 400-450, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 30ish

I never understood what R/O represents...

What kind of filtration system/media performs reverse osmosis?

A reverse osmosis filter system, usaully a 3-4 part filtration system, large sediment, carbon a couple times the actual r/o membrane etc. Almost all the salt water guys use it, look around home improvement websites and such or ebay amazon.

After seeing how these reverse osmosis systems work... I came up with a bit of a ghetto makeshift system for the meantime. I use the filter from an office style water cooler to fill my buckets (SLOOOOOW process), add appropriate prime to said buckets, wait a half hr, remove water from tank and then pour new water into a container filled with carbon - letting the new water drip into the tank. Not a perfect system but I will say that the mantilla is looking a bit better since I started using this method

minor success today. the mantilla actually ate a piece of prawn very eagerly and seems to be swimming like he should. while my new w/c method is far from perfect, could it be used as a permanent way to maintain the tank? I usually do about 20% weekly
