The politicians don't understand science, they understand $$. The fishermen loby with $$ the scientists loby with facts. We don't have any $$ because the politicians cut all of our budgets.

The governments won't take appropriate actions until the greed stops. The fishermen are constantly complaining that they can't make any $$ because the regulations are too tight. Yet the average commercial fisherman's annual income is just over 4x what the average Masters degreed scientist earns!!! Its about double what the PhD's earn and 5-6x what one with a Bachelors degree earns.

I spent tens of thousands of dollars on an education so I could earn squat and listen to commercial fishermen tell me its my fault they only make 4x my salary.

When they run out of fish to catch the government will probably subsidize their educations so they can go back to school and learn a new trade.

This is so sad but true. Just look at the replies and we have less than 5 pages. It does sucks pretty bad that somebody with no degree or high school diploma making more than somebody with a PhD. What is wrong with this image? The world is all about who you know; not how high of a degree of education a person has.

Im gonna reiterate that we need cooperation from around the world to stop the fish from dissapearing. Certain countries over fish to the point of insanity and then move to the next spot.... Not going to get in to a war about this but its true..

Not justifying commercial fishing regulations, but there is alot of knowledge needed to get certified to run a large ship.

It seems to you that if I didnt finish high school I shouldnt have a good job? I know many who have worked up the ladder and own a company now. Its not who they knew, its how hard they worked for what they have. Sorry but that statement hit a never. Sorry to hijack.
