okay-i just got a used computer because mine died...theres no sound coming out of it at all.tried control panel"sounds etc"and cannot access the sound button and its just stuck on mute some how.any suggestions other than taking a hammer to it?

One time something happened to my computer after a friend did who knows what to it. I tried everything and nothing ever happened. Dont know how new your comp is but when it starts up it should have a screen that comes up for a few seconds that tells you to push F11 or a similar button for a recovery of the computer. Or if u have the recovery discs use them cuz they do a full recovery. But once I did this mine began working, I dont know if a sound file or etc. was lost on the used comp. or what but it worked for me. Im no comp. whiz and I dont work for the GeeK Squad...LOL...but this worked for me...Jus tryna help.....Good Luck....
try and add speakers to your comp. If the sound comes out of the speakers, then the speakers on you comp it bad.
if not the your sound card might be busted.

i have a surround sound set up that cranked on my old puter but nothing now.and i dont have any of the discs from the puter because its a hand me down to get by until i buy another brain......man this sucks

Im not exactly sure if is F11...or F10 or which one....havent had to do it in a while....F11 is a tool shrink when ur on ur desktop or online but not when ur computer is turning on. I have a HP and on startup it at the bottom of the screen u can press an F button to do a manual recovery, view your computer statistics or etc. This screen is before the Windows sreen pops up.....
okay thanks man-ill try it when i reboot tomorrow.i think this puter may be on its way out as well.looks like i may need to buy another new one sooner than i planned.that sucks.all my money just keeps on finding ways out of my pockets.
