yes but anyone who is in the hobby or knows jack about fish. knows that certin crap is good for the water quallity... u need some crap under yer gravel. for your fish to thrive
anyways its all good... i was just sayin that it looks terrable for a show tank to have no substrate... amaizing fish but holding tank looking tanks

but of course you need to understand what looks terrible to someone may look beutiful to another so its all about our personal opinion

Wow. heated debate. My personal opinion, bb is for MFK who run huge filtration and dont want substrate in their filters. And that be me :nilly: ...And I do think that tanks with substrate look good. But they look even better with tons of driftwood, plants, and halide lighting.

if they cant give it a natural habitat... its just greedy...
u guys ever hear of silica sand... 10$ for 40 KG bag
So every FW waterway has silica sand or fruit salad gravel on the bottom?
If you're all about natural habitats/biotopes why mix angels with dats? One is from asia and the other from the amazon, IMO thats every bit as un-natural as a bare bottom tank. Also, from what I've seen the rivers where angel fish live are hardly full of lush green plants like the average 'planted tank' they're kept in.

Not trying to be a b!tch, but if you're going to use the 'natural habitat' argument as a reason for not keeping BB tanks then you'd better do a little more research into the 'natural habitat' of the fish you're keeping. ;)

I run 15 tanks at the moment and they are each and every one of them a PART of our home. In other words the tanks blend in with and are a part of the furnishings. I detest ghetto looking cinder block stands and "gee I wish I could afford gravil" BB set ups. Although I'm not into planted tanks my wife and I still feel that the aquarium itself...set up properly is a large part of the enjoyment of our hobby. It's not simply a box of water to toss our latest "snag" into and power feed.

I have always been into automotive proformance but have matured into an appreciation of other aspects. I'm far more impressed by an SRT 300 Chrysler than I am a home built "mad max" looking mess.

i would love anyone to show me a bare bottom tank that is cleaner than my substrate tank :D

im not talking about substrate 4inch deep mine is only 1inch

it takes no longer to clean a tank with substrate than it does a tank without substrate

if you have big piles of crap laying around on your bare bottom tank that you need to scope the crap out then you dont have enought water movment to push the crap to the filters
