I assume from previous posts that Nitrate was below 150ppm? Higher levels can stop them feeding.

I wonder if pregnant females are more at risk?

Recently I have noticed that following a water change and an ion exchange resin the Nitrate can be zero, within a week mine can be above 50ppm again and my 300 ish gals are not heavily stocked at all.

All my big ray in the big tank are fed through a clear 3/4" acrylic tube. I put food down and they all learned to hovers the tube against the glass. This is how I know that each will get the amount of of food that they need.

How many rays do you have? I'd imagine this feeding method takes some time.

I dont keep rays. Though I would LOVE to. One, I dont have the facilities. Two, I believe they do need a lot of time anad education. I am not sure I would have the time to properly tend to their real needs. Good advice Fire Medic!! Maybe when I retire....

4 large rays. I cut up smelt to about 3/4" and I can shove up about 20 pieces in a long tube.

The rays are trained to grab the tube, held it against the glass and eats about 6-7 pieces at a time.

Same goes to my aussie lungfish.

Off topic, PM me if you have any more quetion.

what i don't get, is the flower, if you were able to get her to eat certain thing. why would you stop or switch to other food. does she stop eating it after a while?
FM states in the original post that the ray kept changing palates. The flower stopped eating whatever it was eating before and constantly kept doing that.

that's good info , i have been looking for a flower, better pay attention of current diet with owner.
