I just upgraded my tank to a 75 gallon bowfront with an overflow box and sump thanks to craigslist...

this is my first overflow box (last tank was drilled) and ive been having some trouble getting it to work right...

i think im priming it right, ive been using an air tube to manually start the siphon, but once its running its super loud...

the water flows fine from the internal box to the external box, but it makes a lot of noise when the water flows into the pipe that drains to the sump

ive been playing around with adjusting the height of the internal box, but with no luck...

Are all overflow kits this noisy? or do i just not have it set up right?

I dont even have it on now because its so loud

The sound you are hearing is coming from the overflow box or is it the sound of the water in the tubes?

if its the overflow im thinkin about with the lid that goes on it the lid likes to vibrate sometimes...i keep a heavy bottle of stress coat on it to keep it quite

im pretty sure the sound im hearing is literally the water draining into the tube.

theres no lid

Has it got a standpipe?

what does that do?

Eliminates the noise you're hearing, or at least greatly lessens it. Durso or Stockman, google em and build ya one.

Here's a picture of my Durso.Obviously yours would have to be smaller to fit the overflow box.
