Noisy Overflow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
where exactly is the noise comin from? usually the noise comes from the sump, if its coming from your overlfow your probly just not getting enough flow into it. is it always empy? can you post a pic of your it?

You can slow down the pump output by putting a ball valve on it.

If you have an external overflow I make a cover out of plastic and it will relly qiuet it down.

If its anything like my tank, the sound is coming from the water draining into the sump from the predrilled hole in the overflow. The link JardidiBoy looks like a solution for me, but I am not sure how jackyl0568 setup is.

what kind of plastic cover?

Thank you guys. I'm having the same problem too. Now i'll do that diy thingy. For months now, feels like toilet flushing everyday.

I built my standpipes just a wee bit different than the durso one, but they work awesome, and no noise :o)

I just built a standpipe for my 60 gal today following the Durso instructions and let me tell you... This thing is awesome!! No more gargle gargle. No more flushing shounds. All you hear is a trickle of water going from the bottom of the tank to the sump.

Very nice little upgrade to the tank. I spent a little under 6 dollars for this and man am I happy.
