if the tank were big enough, the gar and the alligator could live together, or the gar and the turtle. the gar would likely be quick enough to evade either, but the gator would definately kill the turtle. gators are ambush predators, and can lie in wait for a long time, so they could could probably also get their mouths around an unsuspecting gar. probablly wouldn't be much of a risk if you kept the gator very well fed, and kept some smaller, stupider fish in there to keep the gator distracted.

I've snorkeled down relatively narrow spring rivers, with 3 foot Florida gar beneath me, and 3-4 foot gators to the left of me. For some reason, I was never worried the gar were going to attack. wasn't even really worried about being attacked by a 4 foot gator. I'm six feet tall, gator's not gonna risk it. either is the gar.

this all sounds like a bad idea to me...

in regards to the original post.
the singapore zoo does have an alligator snapping turtle in with about 4 gator gars [i went down last weekend] the gars are about 4-5 feet, and they all look perfectly healthy.

yeaa dont i think if u made it deep enough so the Turtles could'nt just swimm up a little and munch on the Gars so like 5-7' Then u should be find i have seen exbits<? At aquariums (Texas Aquarium) with like 4 Snapping turtles with alligators but the alligators were like 4ft but the exibit was like 15'x8' And only half had water.

i have actually seen this exact setup. its at the Newport Aquarium in newport kentucky.
they have 3'-6' gators, 3'-5' gator gars, multiple average sized turtles, and maybe even some florida gars ... and everything seemed to be fine together. i would assume a public aquarium wouldnt keep it running if animals were dying

Do not try to do things public aquariums do in a small scale home aquarium.... It ain't going to work and to be honest it does not work well in Professional situations either..

agree 100%

large adult alligator snappers can be kept with alligators

That's nice... What does this have to do with Gar? also please tell me just how many people have the ability of keeping an Alligator with a large alligator snapper. Me thinks that number might just be very very very low.....(If not close to not existent)
