Non overly aggressive mbunas

Wyomingite...I love the license plate bronco, I actually lived in Gillette for about 4 years in the 90's. Nice to see something that reminds me of the past.

As for the post:

I have kept several mbunas and for me the Labs have never been anything but mellow and peaceful no matter what was in the tank. Good luck and keep us posted on how things turn out.

Thanks,
JP

Metriclima aurora is a mild one. The problem is that only the dominant male colors up. Occasionally a second male will color up and sometimes will lock jaws, etc. But I've never had them kill each other.

In general, I think the Labeotropheus and Labidichromous are pretty mellow for Mbuna and good citizens in a community tank. Note, I have not kept them all, but in my experience, they are good.

Also, Melanochromis exaspertus is a pretty docile fish.

Agreed to stay away from Kenyi.

I'd also avoid pseudotropheus desmani.. I had one that killed about a dozen tankmates before I figured out who was doing it. They are small, but very aggressive.

The most laid back mbuna I have kept is c. afra "san sanga"The males range from light to very dark purple females are silver.Ive kept them in pairs, multiple males,2 males in a small tank with no fighting.Others report the same.Kind of hard to find fish though.

Well, glad to take ya down memory lane, Jon. I'm down in Cheyenne. I can't imagine livin' anywhere else but Wyoming, myself.

my Pseudotropheus Saulosi and red zebra for me, ive been having problems with yellow labs in my tank, i swapped one out for another because he was trying to run the tank and the new one i got runs the tank

Zebras (red or other varieties) are generally considered to be medium aggression mbuna. Labs and acei are often much more peaceful. Example I would keep labs with peacocks but never zebras (Metriaclima).
