Where the Parachromis roam...
I have noticed that at nite when all the lights are off my 5" J.Dempsey (who is the boss of my tank) will swim up and down the side of my tank all nite long.He doesnt look stressed, rather like he is enjoying his swim, back and forth and up and down.Meanwhile all the other fish in the tank seem to be "sleeping",has anyone else ever had thier fish do this??:headbang2

My arowana does this (although I'm pretty sure all arowanas swim during the entire night). Just back and forth, back and forth, 24/7.

My RD always drifts around the tank even when sleeping. I can tell he is sleeping because when I turn on the lights he doesn't rush the glass like usual.

Mine do this from time to time and did it a lot when they were a couple inches long. Me and my ex would see em cruising near the light of the TV in the dark. But it was funny cuz it was 6 of em doing it lol. Even now, mine do it from time to time.

I have a Lab that does it constantly. All the other Cichlids go about their business, but he will do continuous vertical figure 8's for hours.

are there any plecos in the tank? maybe they're disturbing him when he tries to rest on the bottom.
