Hes probably happy to be king of the tank... joking... the dominant cichlid which is he, like to swim and control the tank.

His days as "King" of the tank are numbered with my Dovii and Umbee in there,once they each get some size on the JD is in for a rather rude awakening,the Texas too.lol:headbang2

Screw cichlids, get pbass, aro, flagtail, wbsd, etc... those are true mfk fish!! lol... can't forget catfish! Lol... but serously,I think the Jack Dempsey is active because he is the biggest.

1ST your in the wrong section to say screw cichlids,they have carried this hobby for years,and make the best "wet pets",2nd the JD is not the biggest in my tank.

I don't even like cichlids but I 100% agree with you, they're right there with the common goldfish for being the backbone of the aquarium industry.

Yeah I think it can happen, but how can u tell if they can c their reflection or not? My rtc and tsn do this sometimes, an I always thought they were seein themselves or tryin to escape!:screwy:

This is a cichlid....dude.

DC....I guarantee at some point your fish is slowing down and sleeping. Some point when you aren't watching. I believe that they are never really sound asleep. Their brain...i believe...much like birds...remain active when sleeping.
