Noob, 90 gallon, EGGS, HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I weighed the options, but that 90 gallon is my show off tank because it's on my main floor, I didn't think I could have only the breeding pair of Salvini in there. Hopefully they'll feel safe enough in the new bowfront to spawn again, if not it's ok. My main goal is to try to breed the Festae anway. The free swimming fry are really cute, my wife had absolutely zero interest in my new hobby until she saw the eggs. Now she's up earlier than me waking me up to feed them. I'm not sure if I liked it more when she didn;t like the fish.

Btw here is a picture of my Salvini and you can kind of make out the fry.

ooh ok well i dont know if a 90 gallon is big enough for a full grown arowanna i think they grow to about 2 or 3 feet. well you could put ur salvinis and jack dempsey pairs in there. yeah they are cool to watch. im hoping my firemouths spawn soon too. lol mine hates my fish tanks she says i spend more time and money on my fish then i do for her . atleast she cares about them , my wife could careless .

well when ur festae grow up ill buy one or two from you since i cant find any locally btw thats a nice salvini female

Keep in mind I have the 180 gallon in my garage, my basement should be ready in less than a month, still havent decided if I should build a background for it. The Arowana is going to go in there for sure and hopefully a pair of Festae. I'm looking into getting a couple Flag Tails also, they've peaked my interest but apparently they get HUGE so I don't know. The spawn definitely helped my wife into the hobby.

oo . ok maybe you could put the drift wood in the 180

UPDATE: So when I last posted I moved my breeding pair of Sal's and their fry to my new 46 gallon bowfront. After a couple days I did a WC and the parents started seriously fighting so I took the male and put him back into my 90. As it turns out, he decided to pair up with a different female Sal. By the time I put his original mate back in, he didn't want anything to do with her and was now showing signs of spawning with his new female. Well, they spawned last night, they did it in a different area so the pics aren't that great.

My question is, if/when this new batch is ready, will it be ok to keep them with the spawn that has already been growing a couple weeks? Their sizes will be slightly different obviously and their mother's will be different as well.

i dont think the fry would really care about the younger fry but i dont know about the parents they might start fighting again not 100% sure tho i've never kept 2 breeding pairs in the same tank .

Lol they're technically not a breeding pair...its one male and 2 females, one on each side of the tank.
